No, this "doesn't work for some people" is crap. There's obviously a reason.
I stayed 3 whole rounds on the bridge ONLY USING the tomahawk.
Threw it in the lava pit and nothing happened.
For that reason alone, every tutorial is wrong, there's more to it.

So how is it better. I saw that it left behind like an electric shock but does it have a bigger chain radius or faster cool down?

Better range, it also attracts to more zombies and does more damage
