So I just got my braces put on after school today.
The dentist told me some general info, how to keep them clean, what to expect, etc.
But I was wondering if anyone who has previously had braces could tell me some more?
Like what to expect pain wise the first few days, best things to eat, and general care info.

For anyone who's wondering, I got purple and yellow bands on my front 4. The ones I got don't require bands on all of my teeth.

They really aren't that bad. They only get sore, not really painful, but annoying, after getting them tightened. The soreness may last a day or two and isn't all that bad, but it may be difficult to eat solid foods, but yogurt and other types of softer foods are great. If you want to get used to the pain, I would recommend chewing gum, I did that and it made it easier to deal with. I practically ignored the not-to-eat list, didn't bother much. Food gets stuck in them easily, so brush often and well.

Try not to chew gum it might get stuck in your braces .
it also feels uncomfortable but you can get use to it.

Thanks for the comment.
I was planning on just eating really soft stuff for a few days until I get used to the spacer on my front two teeth. The thing keeps me from biting down all the way so its a little hard to chew foods. But I'll definitely chew gum for a while.

When I first got them on, they didn't hurt or anything BUT later that night when dinner time came around I couldn't eat a nice juicy steak so I just randomly got the idea, tomato soup and grilled cheese
So I ate this for the next two days then after that I kinda made my parents think it hurt really bad just so they would get me whatever I wanted
Then after 3-4 days I started to eat some tougher foods.
Apart from that, I wouldn't worry about gum. As long as you don't spread it with your tongue and mush it on your braces, they won't get stuck. And if it does, simply dig it out or brush your teeth.
Sorry if you like apples BTW, you need to cut them up now.
After 2 days of tightening you will feel fine, eat whatever(But apples).
IMPORTANT THING!
Brush with salt and brush frequently.
Your gums swell and need to be healthy for your braces to WORK.
