That must be what i did as i have held both buttons many times ( dosnt work ) but i can connect it to itunes and add music and everything is there any way i can fix the cables myself?

Yeah there are ways but you need a special screwdriver I forget the name. Just search it on youtube

i have the part as i have needed to fix the back of my iphone before ( my uncle broke it ) and i have the pentalobe i just need to find it lol.... but i will look it up and Hopefully i can fix it thank you
