I really wouldn't suggest a Mac, as you cant play a lot of games on it. I would suggest a HP envy laptop.

Macbooks really aren't recommended for gaming. Browsing the web and school work, fair enough but if you want to do anything other than that, you'd be better with something different.

However, you're clearly determined to get an Apple product so out of the two, I would say that the Macbook pro with an SSD(configurable option) is going to be your best bet

People like to say that. But almost every single pc game is playable on mac, now game companies are starting to make their games mac compatible and there is a port for most pc games. My macbook pro is 3 years old and i can run borderlands 2 and diablo 3 with no problem.
