Hi!
For a long time now I have wanted to have a capture card (for tutorials, modding and fun on xbox360)...
I now finally have the money to buy one...
I have been looking on getting either the Elgato Game Capture or the Hauppuage Pvr 2 Gaming (The one with hdmi and button on top of it..)
So... the price is almost the same, The elgato is about 20dollars more...
So... The elgato is small, but it doesnt matter for me... what I like is the feature where you can "go back in time" and record something if you didnt have the elgato recording running, this seems interesting...but will it record sound, voice etc? Cant seem to find this :/
The Pvr2 Gaming(edition) looks really nice, the elgato looks cheap, but the pvr2 looks like something very proffesional, and I also like the button on top of it so that I dont need to bother getting to my pc to record
The Elgato also doesnt include editing software and I am not the person who wants to move the files over and over from program to program just to edit it a bit... The pvr2 on the other hand( from what I have seen) includes an editing software that might not be the best(idk) but it seems to fit average editing, and thats what I want to do(add some text,transnitions, etc)...
The pvr2 seems like the one for me...BUT... the go back in time feature seems very awsome for me, so that I dont need to record hours of hours of gameplay just incase something happens...but... I wont have the laptop there all the time, only when I am going to record, so the question is, do I really need that feature??
The quality diffrence is barely visible so it doesnt matter...
But, how much space will recordings take with the different ones(1080 and 720)?
Is an i3 processor enough for both of them?

okay, so you are sure that the "go back in time and record" feauture is nothing that makes the elgato better? I mean it sounds cool, but if I plan to record I just plug my laptop in to the game capture, and if I play not to record I wont have the laptop there, so that feauture seems pretty bad it that aspect anyhows... Is the editing software in pvr2 good? is it easy to use for an "average" user?

I would say the PVR is a better choice. If something really cool happens, you can just go back into theatre.

Kinda what I was thinking to, I am gonna play some GTA IV too but I guess I will record all the time, thats just one of these games where you should do that And also, the pvr2 as I said looks awsome, I really love when my tech stuff looks and feels good so that I dont feel like I bought something bad(even if the inside is good, the outside is also important)
Does the pvr2 have better quality? Does it allow live commentary(very important)?

How do you edit your vids? Is it a pain in the ass to do so(transfer files, converting, downloading a good program without needing to crack it and stuff)?
Have you ever used the "go back in time" thing? Is it useful concidering that the laptop/pc must be connected all the time?

The elgato is better if you want to record your gameplay and go back and edit the files to upload. However, if you want to live stream, i recommend the hd pvr, because the elgato has a 3-4 second delay getting to your computer and this makes live streaming through xsplit a real pain if your trying to get your webcam in as well. The elgato also has less wires than the hdpvr, using hdmi instead of composite hd

the elgato is better because one it has the go back in time feature so it doesnt take up alot of space you can just record the parts you want. it has an easy editing program.live com and a livestream feature built in it
