In all honesty up this is how it's going to go down. Your going to have this massive image and hopes and eventually end of abandoning the project when you realize there's more useful uses over your programming time and the fact that you don't know what your doing.
By all means, prove me wrong, but I'm sure you wont.
Trust me i know what i'm doing ;). To edit the news i've made a secondary Program to Edit the news so i don't even need to login to anything it does it for me and it all works Perfect i've made programs like this and yes it is DotNetBar components But i just like the way it looks but if people don't like the style i can change it but i don't really want to but i will plus i've done mast of the code for most of it just need to make some more Tools and stuff!!!
What do you mean what's like this the only thing i can see that looks like something else is that the GUI it looks abit like Horizon :'(
First of all Horizon is not the only people to use the DotNetBar components. Second of all your trying to tell me that you are the first person to make guides and news about video games. My point I'm making is why would someone risk downloading a program only to have a tiny fraction of what they would learn on IGNs website. Do not argue with me.
Trust me i know where your coming from but maybe the user that download the program wants it for the tools to mod games or download them. So its not all about the guides, tutorials and News but there's a lot more things you will need to download it for you cant do every thing on the internet!!!
Why so harsh? If he is committed to this program and believe in it then let him be! I can see why it might be useful! Having all that information in one app instead of having to jump from site to site. Makes sense to me.
Although, Jamie I do think you are bumming it up to be a lot more than it is. You would have been better splitting the program up. When i go to see the latest news i don't wanna get tips on minecraft or download anything for my Xbox. Good effort tho

@jamie - Cool program! Nice to see you've made some good progress. Is the news updated from RSS feeds or something or do you hard code it in? Also, is the splash screen actually loading anything or is it just for looks? If it's just for looks it's not really necessary, and just makes users wait longer to use your program.
Thanks for the feedback man The news comes from a RSS feed witch in my opinion is the best way for me because i can edit it from a external program i have made that edits all the news and the loading screen actually checks if your online or offline so the program can tell if it cant download things like games or view the news but if i want i can remove it but the program takes i while to load so if there's no loading screen the main menu takes longer to load
Sounds fairly well thought out. Good job.

Look i'm not trying to bump this at all i'm just trying to reply to people that want information on this and plus you just give me a really good idea to spit the program up and just let people download the things you want from the program Thanks

Damn man, this looks nice. Good to see people programming some actual things other than simple stuff(Like a web browser). If you don't mind me asking, what language are you coding in?
@Rhymes
If he wants to make this, let him. It improves his programming skill. You being a dick doesn't help at all. Maybe you shouldn't judge people so quickly

Well its made in VB because I find it to be very stable programing language but sometimes restrictive but you can get things done fast and easy I also know C++, java, java script, html, xtml (but not very strong at this), powerchell and game maker if you can count that
Also thanks for sticking up for me and this project it really inspires me to keep it up

jamie1505 wrotePiracy wrote Looks nice, although maybe you should consider a search bar, the more games and stuff you have in there, people wont want to look through them all for the 1 they want when they can look it up on Google or something, so a search bar that searches all the stuff in the program should be considered. Other than that, it looks really nice, might check it out!
I totally agree i was thinking about this i might do it just need to think of how to implement it in and then create the data base
I would watch out when including databases credentials or other sensitive information in the application considering vb applications can easily be decompiled; At least try dotFuscator to hide them for if the source code is leaked.

You totally right the application need to be hardened to stop it being recompiled in programs like DotNet Reflector so i'm going to look into this but i'll do it before release
