Not for coloured text you don't, no. But you do need to be premium for a coloured username.

for text like m60's you have to be in top 5 posters i think... premium gives you a color in your name

You can get the cycled colored name by being a 10k Elite.

You DO NOT need to be a premium member to type in colored texts on the forums.
