So i spent like 3 days researching laptops and found some really good ones (was going to buy the lenovo ideapad y500) but then i realised that EVERY one i found can't be bought in the UK
Well they can, but the prices are extremely higher and specs MUCH worse (different models)
Basically I need a decent laptop for music production and a little bit of gaming, that can be bought OR shipped to the UK, that isn't far more expensive than it would be in US
My Budget: $1,200 (around 750)
Preferred specs:
Intel i7 2.4GHZ+
16 GB Ram
750gb+ 7200rpm HDD (With an additional SSD would be even better)
Decent GPU capable of running modern games at high (bf3, planetside 2, BO2 etc)
15.6"+ screen (17.3" preferred)
1920x1080 resolution
Backlit keyboard
The lenovo Ideapad had EXACTLY the specs i wanted, and really cheap, I was so stoked to get it but then they told me they couldn't sell or ship it to the UK -___-
Basically does anyone know of any gaming notebook with these specs, or similar, and within my budget, AND sold from a UK store/able to ship to the UK :p
It is so much harder to find a good laptop over here, as they all seem to have crappy specs compared to the US models and are even more expensive..
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps
PS: Please no "get a desktop" comments, I already have a desktop, yes i know they are cheaper and get better specs, but i need something portable and i can't exactly take a desktop on the bus with me can I, this is not a desktop replacement.

From the specs youve posted, you dont want a "decent" laptop, you want a top of the range laptop.
I have a Dell XPS L702X, here are the specs
i7-2630QM 3.2GhZ quad core
8GB DDR3 1600mhz RAM
3GB Nvidia GT555M
17in screen (1080p) & Backlit Keyboard
1TB 7200RPM HDD & 128GB m4 SSD
Overall, including the SSD I added, this has cost me 1000.
Youll never get all them specs under 750

The Lenovo y500 HAS all of those specs i want, and for only 746 ($1,168), perfect for me, but they don't ship outside of the US.
And btw, you bought a Dell, what do you expect >.> they overprice all their products to high hell

Are you sure the Lenovo was brand new and not refurbished?
I havent looked at laptops in a while so prices could of significantly fallen, and baring in mind this laptop was purchased 2 and a half years ago, for the specs it wasnt overpriced by much.
The L702X isnt my primary PC, I build my own, I just wanted a powerhouse I can carry around, and couldnt be asked to start looking into building a laptop.
Oh well, at least I didnt buy an Alienware haha

(From the UK site)
I nearly didnt believe you man, charge the brits more, thats fair...
Although there was a big thing not long ago about Australia paying almost double for anything microsoft compared to the rest of the world lol
Ignore the 800 price tag on that, its got a coupon somewhere for 100 off.

Yeah i did see that one, also 800 is the price AFTER the coupon, they already apply the coupon to the price assuming you will use it, original price is 900.
Also: only 8 GB Ram, No HD resolution, No SSD, No Dual (SLI) GPU, only 1 (and it is an even worse gpu -.-)
AND IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE ONE ON THE US SITE THAT IS 3X BETTER (LOL)

OMG lol didnt see the thing about the coupon, its late man haha.
That is actually outrageous.
I know you sounded pretty against it but why not check out Dell.
Actually saying that, they seem to have now removed custom building for the UK whilst keeping it for the US.
Seriously wtf is wrong with the world.
