Xenons overheat more often than newer xbox's. Do not listen to some of these idiots. If you use it wisely and not for hours and hours, it will last a long time. I have a Fan Speed Mod that helps it not overheat. If you set the fan speed higher, it will have a better chance. Xenon work as well as a newer one, just doesn't overheat on the newer ones.

Save up man, trust me... Don't get a xenon! I have a Slim RGH but you can do just fine with a falcon.

I have had two xenons and they have both red ringed on me. The first one was so bad but I have one in my collection that had it when I first got it and I haven't had a problem so far. But I barely used it just to fix some errors on the NAND it was getting about it.

So point is I would purchase a falcon. Last you way longer than a xenon.

Trust me when I say this, do not buy any JTAG/RGH older than a Falcon.
I have owned the following:
  • Xenon JTAG
  • Zephyr JTAG
  • Falcon JTAG
  • Trinity RGH 2

The Xenon worked well with no problems for about two weeks, then it would just red ring on every boot.
The Zephyr worked well for a few months before it began freezing then got two red lights for either the CPU or GPU overheating.
The Falcon is my first JTAG and has been working with frequent use for over 2 years with absolutely ZERO problems.
I had my Trinity RGHed after it got console banned about a year ago but I prefer JTAG to RGH because of the varying boot times, but the Trinity maintains the coolest temperatures.

slapshot101 wrote I think it is worth it. As long as you keep good care of it it will last a long time. If you don't have that much money it is a good idea. I have my xexon for 11 months and haven't had a single problem with it.

yeah that sounds about right! just don't run it to long in one sitting!

ive had my xenon jtag for over 2 years without a fault just turn up the fans and keep it clean from dust and dont run it for long periods of time. falcons overheat just as much if not looked after. also if the xenon has had red ring before dont touch it. it will come back

Please tell me you are joking.
No, please tell me you're joking? slapshot is right, you're just being completely ignorant, Fuz.

Fuz wrote I am telling you with advice my xenon broke 1st month ask people who had a xenon they barely lasted my friend had a zeypher broke first moth which is apparently better than a xenon don't buy it man dont that guy is lucky or lying.
Just because you didn't take care of your xenon and it broke doesn't mean they all will. Also, where did you hear that Jtags overheat more than retails because that is another bullsh*t story, its just not true at all.

OP: I have had my xenon jtag for 3/4 years and it still works perfectly. Xenon's ARE more likely to overheat than any other motherboard but if you take care of it and don't leave it on for more than 4 hours at the most, it will be fine. I have a 12v fan mod and molex cable(for PC fan) installed to my xenon for extra 'protection' from overheating just in case, which is probably why it has lasted me almost 4 years.
