Not necessarily a build, but this isn't really "showing off", but perhaps I can show you an insight into legacy hardware. (It's not THAT old, but relative to today..)

Current specs:
Motherboard: MS-6378. It is 32-bit. The last BIOS update for it was in 2003, if i remember correctly. There are two RAM slots. The buses are PCI and ISA (optional). There are PS/2 ports, one for the mouse, one for the keyboard. I use my old rollerball mouse on it. No support for SATA drives, just IDE. Four USB 1.0 ports.

RAM: It's SDRAM. 512 MB of it. Doesn't even do ECC. The motherboard supports a max of one gigabyte.

Graphics: Intergrated! Trident Blade 3D graphics, only the latest and greatest. Only one VGA port.

Hardrive: 40 GB IDE. Not sure about the RPM, because I have 2 other IDE drives and one SATA drive, which i've never used. I have to use a master/slave jumper.

Soundcard: Nonexistant. I have an Audigy 2 sitting behind me, but it doesn't go in.

Power supply: Three hundred watts. Oh man.

It's not all that ancient, but for today's standards, most people go "how can you live on that, my phone is better than that!"

I'm going to sound nerdy but i'm actually interested in how computing was only a few years ago, i saw a thread on another forum where someone was building a computer with all the parts from the late 90's and he actually managed it and it looked awesome! Sometimes we need a blast from the past to realise our computers aren't as slow as we think
