I don't see how this would work.
God is omnipotent by definition so he wouldn't need to be scared of us in a power struggle sense.
He is also omniscient and outside of time, he would have seen that we would evolve this way even before he made the first organisms.

I think it would be more likely that God simply doesn't care.
He isn't bound to us by that trait.
The Bible says only that we are his favorite creation and that he loves us eternally.
You can love someone and not want to have anything to do with them, he already displays narcissistic traits in the Bible, he could quite easily have another 'favorite' creation on the other side of the Universe.
