A film has or will be released soon, called, 'After Earth'.
I won't go into the story and whatnot, but it looks good.
The basic premise of the film is that Earth, over hundreds or thousands of years [it's not quite clear] and the animals, plants and features of it, have evolved to kill humans.

This, to me, seems plausible, although not in the theatrical sense that the film portrays.

As much as people like to deny it, we are a virus on this planet, we consume from our host and kill its natural properties.
Much like a cell adapts to reject or defend itself from a virus, Earth could adapt and evolve to defend itself from us.

Now, this comes down to whether you think that our technology and its advancement over time will outweigh the magnitude and capabilities that evolution possesses over the Earth.

Basically, can you see Earth adapting to defend itself from us?

I personally don't think so. I think they will be able to evolve to survive better around us (like deer getting thicker hide or something), but I doubt they will evolve to kill us. It is still a possibility in my opinion I just doubt it would ever happen. I think it has to do with the way we cage them and kill them. Some never are in danger to fight for their lives, while others just die without having a chance to fight. I would think in order for them to evolve, they would need to fight and survive. This in turn should make the species stronger, no? I just can't see it happening with our methods of farming, hunting, and zoos.

I'm sort of annoyed. I saw plausible in the poll, and I chose that one, but then I went back and read more into the poll, and saw that it also said not possible. Plausible and not possible conflict with each other.

Anyways, I do think it could happen, but it will take a very long time.

we are not really a virus but more of a pest that takes way more than it needs and slowly kills its victim... i seriously doubt the animals will turn on us... but again this is possible as there are infinite possibilities.

It's not possible in my opinion. Our technology is evolving at an exponential rate whilst animals are evolving at an arithmetic rate. They will never surpass us, we will continue to move ahead of them more and more until we don't even need the Earth, we can just use other planets.

IT would take thousands upon thousands of year ..... and so on

for "it" to happen (not saying it would)

Maybe the animals but not earth itself.

Unless the earth's gravity changed or things like that it be so so but we could potentially adapt.

Goodish question~

I don't know about Earth, but I can certainly see another species evolving and progressing, then eventually predominating. Though, not for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years.
