Hey,

So i am planning on building a computer and i want to use it for gaming/multimedia purposes such as video editing. I am trying to decide on which GPU to choose between the GTX 670 or the Radeon 7970. I have heard that the 670 is terrible at video editing but amazing at gaming due to physx, but the 7970 does not have physx but is great at video editing... I am torn between the two and am not sure about if the performance decrease between the 670 and the 7970 while video editing will be a big one. I will be using an i7-3770K. Which one would you recommend?? I believe that i will be playing games more than video editing and multimedia but i am taking a course in school where i learn how to use photoshop, and premiere, and i currently use sony vegas as well for video editing.
Thanks.

The 670 has CUDA, which can greatly improve performance in productivity applications. The 7970 has OpenCL, which is (to my knowledge) not yet implemented in the Adobe suite. If you're going to be doing DEMANDING work in those professional applications, the 670 is the better card for you, but if it's light work that can be handled by the CPU without any real need for GPU acceleration, the 7970 is the faster gaming card for the money.

As for the CPU, wait a few weeks for Intel to release their new line of CPUs. It's a bad idea to buy into socket 1155 so late into the cycle.

Ok, but is physx really important for games?? I saw some gameplay with and without it and it looks much more realistic with it. But is there a big fps difference between the 670 and the radeon 7970?? I will be doing moderate amount of work with those applications, and i believe that i will be gaming more than using those applications.

PhysX is only a big deal for a few games and it's not something that should be central to your decision in buying a card. AMD cards can run PhysX effects in games anyway, but with decreased performance. The 7970 is a considerably faster card.
