Excellent, so this should be a simple fix. Locate the folder that has the generic picture thumbnails, at the top of the folder window locate "Tools". Then find folder options -> View -> Uncheck the box that says "Always show icons, never thumbnails". Be sure to click apply and Ok. Easy as that. If the generic icons remain as the thumbnails make sure you click view and select small,medium,or large thumbnail to get the proper thumbnail for the picture. Feel free to let me know if the problem persist afterwards.
