What is your reasoning behind spending more money on something that will most likely offer no benefits? Unless Vexin is doing some serious editing/rendering, an i7 would not be worth the extra money. Not to say an i7 isn't worth the money or is "bad", it would just be a pointless upgrade and the money saved can be spent on something more important.

It really depends on what Vexin is going to be doing. For gaming, 12gb would be useless. However, like the i7 situation, unless you are going to be doing quite a bit of editing, the upgrade just isn't worth it. Also, if you ever feel you need to upgrade down the line, more RAM can always be purchased and added. But I wouldn't consider 12gb to be a priority.

What is your budget? I suggest upgrading the GPU if you can. AMD can offer a lot of price-friendly cards that preform very well. All depends on how much you wanna spend on it and what games you will be playing.

I noticed you have no CPU cooler. I suggest getting an aftermarket cooler just because the stock coolers aren't meant so much for gaming and won't keep the CPU at optimal temps when under heavy load. You don't need thermal paste, as nearly all aftermarket cooler come with it pre-applied OR come with a paste container.

You really don't need an aftermarket fan either. Focus on the priorities. Speaking of priorities... $70 on a dvd-drive?! Maybe you'll use it frequently, so i'm not going to say don't buy it. However, that's a lot to spend on something that you don't "need". You can pick up a $15 dvd-drive that works perfectly fine and use that $55 on something more important.

But the most important question, how much you willing to spend? Oh, and when would you plan on ordering everything? (please be honest)

Wow. Thanks for all that. Haha. But $1,000 USD is really what I'd like to be the max amount I'll spend. And to be completely honest, I have no idea when I'll order it. I wanted to get a good idea of the cost that way I can work out an effective way to save the money up. Plus, my birthday is tomorrow so I should be getting some money from my relatives and friends.

What? No. Dude you have NO idea what you're talking about. He has a $1000 budget and you want him to get a $70 mobo? You really are a nuisance because you give people bad information with no supporting claims. BF3 for example uses 4-5gb of RAM. Why would you need the other 7-8gb of RAM? It's pointless and I encourage you to backup your beliefs with some facts.

Venix don't listen to anything that guy has said lol. A quality mobo is very important. You have 1k to spend, you should be spending well over $100 on the mobo.

It's hard to recommend parts when you don't know when you will order everything. new hardware is being released all the time. Seriously. For example, a new line of graphics cards is coming out very soon (79xx series I believe..?). So when they come out what do you think is going to happen to the prices of the old cards? You would feel really silly spending $200 on a GPU on to have it's price drop 50% in 2 weeks.

By all means, research as much as you can. But don't count your chickens before they hatch, ya' know?
