AN employee died yesterday after being knifed during a raid on a high street bookies in front of horrified customers.
The victim who was 55 was stabbed in the back by the lone robber who then forced his way behind the counter.
The thug grabbed cash from the till and fled as shocked customers called cops.
The seriously-injured worker who had just returned to Ladbrokes in Morden, South London, after a cigarette break was rushed to hospital where he later died.
A source said last night: He was just outside having a ciggie.
When he turned round to go back into the shop, a man came up behind him, stabbed him in the back and shoved him out of the way.
It was brutal, he just collapsed the man went behind the counter, nicked some money from the till, then ran away.
A statement from the bookmakers said: We can confirm that following a serious incident at a Ladbrokes shop in Morden a staff member has died.
The victims next of kin have been informed.
