Why:
I thought this would be an essential topic and informative thing to do when purchasing a Verbatim dvd-r dl because buying the wrong type of Verbatim disc can make your game unreadable, depending on the driver you have.
Information on the Verbatim:
Verbatim is one of the most reliable corporations when it comes to purchasing DVDs (especially dual layered discs) to burn flashed games and make it playable on your console. They have begun to release different types of Verbatim discs that could prevent you from playing your games, because of the dye, or the code on.
What to do:
Purchase the right type of discs. Verbatim has released two different types of dual layered discs that can make the game seem like its playable, but you get the read errors such as Play DVD, Disc Media Not Supported or Game unreadable; restart your console. It may show up when the game reads, but it is unplayable on most drives.
The two types of Dual layered discs have an AZO dye, and the other has a regular CMC MAG-coded media, usually a purple dye.
MAKE SURE you purchase the AZO brand. Verbatim life series (currently released in the market and also in high demand) are the CMC MAG-coded media, which when burning games on them, is unreadable on all drives except Samsung drives. Other than that, AZO dye works on all drives. ALSO make sure it is dual layered, and burned on recommended drives.
I have found a drive that works perfect besides the iHas. It works fine, I have been using this drive for the past 6 months and has not failed me yet. Plus you can maximize on 4x instead of the standard and recommended 2.4x without a problem. Maximizing only works if you have a SAMSUNG drive and you are using CMC MAG -coded media dvd dl discs, otherwise it will not work, is pointless, and a waste of money.

Technical version (If you really want to understand it):
There are two types of dual layer discs you can purchase. If you are using Verbatim, this would be a perfect example. There is a CMC MAG-coded media which is sold as (Verbatim life series) which has a stronger dye (the bottom of the dvd, usually a purple color). Then there is a verbatim AZO (which has a light dye (usually looks clear). When the laser from the drive tries to read the game, the dye refracts, not allowing it to pass and read the data to its maximum potential. When it comes to AZO, the drives Hitachi, benq, and pretty much any other drive can read it without a problem, but when it comes to the CMC MAG coded media (life series), ONLY can a Samsung drive read it and play it. Samsung drives have a unique code on that allows it to be read. So its a careful look when purchasing Verbatims.
