OK I'm willing to spend up to 350$ for a new headset for gaming. I was personally thinking the A40'S but I honestly don't know the difference between them and the A50'S. I would appreciate it if I could get some help on this subject.

LOL IMO, don't spend over 60$. It's stupid, they all work similar and will last if you treat them right. Especially if you are an Xbox player, the next gen won't support current gen headsets. If you plan on buying the Xbox One, and you really want to spend all of that money to just have a few extra features, wait until the next Xbox is released.
Otherwise, just buy X12's. I have the older X11's since around 2009. They still work fine.

If you are going to get a next gen console then DO NOT purchase a headset yet because it will not work on them.

Silly idea, if he has that much to spend then let him, that doesn't mean he should spend it all but he certainly shouldn't go cheap with Turtle Beach. Just because they work fine it doesn't mean that the audio and microphone quality is great. You should really give more information though Focused! What platform are you using them for? What features will you be using and needing? What music do you listen to? What games do you play?
Personally I'd recommend against the A50's if you did go with Astro's, because wireless can cause lots of issues, and doesn't really have the best of reputations.
If you are a console gamer then you should probably wait because of the compatibility issues.

If you want a top of the range headset for now then your best options are the Tritton Warheads or Astro A50s

Tritton Warheads are designed for console gaming (Call of Duty mainly) and the A50's should be avoided, wireless failure of a gaming headset really, as I said wireless causes many issues such as static, bad response times and general bad audio quality in some cases.
