Welcome to my Defiance Thread! It will go over the weapons, characters, enemies, and much more!

Defiance:

Defiance is a science-fiction-themed persistent world MMORPG third-person shooter from Trion Worlds. Defiance takes place on a terraformed Earth several decades into the future. It is a tie-in to the Syfy show of the same name. The game was released on April 2, 2013 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Setting:

The game takes place in the San Francisco Bay Area, following a devastating war between Earth and a loose alliance of extraterrestrial races known as Votans. The Votans came to Earth seeking a new home after the destruction of their solar system, unaware that the planet was already inhabited. Friction between the new arrivals and Humanity led to war, during which terraforming technology was unleashed. The Earth's surface was drastically altered as a result, introducing radical changes in topography, the extinction of plant and animal species and the emergence of new species. Afterward, Humans and Votans were forced to live together. Player characters are enlisted as "Ark Hunters" by industrialist Karl Von Bach to search the Bay Area for advanced and expensive alien technology. Players also take part in side missions to earn cash, or challenges in which they compete with other Ark Hunters.

Ego Description:

The power to break the physical limits of mankind and Votan rests within the EGO, the Environmental Guardian Online. Designed with advanced extraterrestrial science, this alien AI implant fuses with the body, unlocking its dormant powers while providing up-to-the-second environmental intelligence. The EGO implant can make even the meekest Ark Hunter a superhero of the new frontier.

Hidden deep within our DNA is the potential to perform super-human feats. With the EGO implant, common Votans and humans can unlock and channel this potential into combat abilities called EGO Powers. By utilizing complex synthetic DNA strands, an EGO-imbued Ark Hunter can launch powerful attacks and wield astounding defenses.

Egos's:

Blur:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Blur is an EGO Power that provides the host with enhanced movement speed for a limited duration. This can be activated in or out of combat situations. While active, all other combat or movement actions are completed without hindrance. Use of the power will increase the hosts chance to dodge shots if the source is a ranged attack of non-projectile origin. Continued upgrade of Blur will increase the duration of the power. In its highest ranks, Blur can mitigate damage and increase melee damage dealt.

Cloak:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Cloak is an EGO Power that renders the host virtually invisible to the enemy. This state can be sustained for a limited duration and can be deactivated at any time. Any attack initiated by the host will also deactivate the effect. Additionally, any impact from enemy fire will momentarily interrupt the effect and reveal the host. A cooldown is applied whenever this power is deactivated no matter the cause. Continued upgrade of Cloak will reduce the cooldown of the power. In its highest ranks, Cloak triggers accelerated shield regeneration and can boost duration by slowing movement.

Decoy:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Decoy is an EGO Power that creates a holographic facsimile of the host that is intended to confuse the enemy. The decoy hologram will maintain the current path of the hosts heading upon activation. The decoys holo-field contains a specific amount of durability, weakening with each impact of enemy fire until it is depleted. If not under fire, the hologram will continue on a linear path for the maximum duration or until it comes in contact with an obstruction. Continued upgrade of Decoy will increase the durability of the power. In its highest ranks, EGO provides the option to swap locations with the hologram or destroy it in a damaging explosion.

Overcharge:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Overcharge is an EGO Power that applies a bionetic bonus to the ammunition of a hosts currently equipped weapons. The application of these bionetic agents delivers greater damage to any target impacted by the weapons ammo. This boost in damage will be sustained for the short duration of the power. Continued upgrade of Overcharge will increase the damage bonus of the power. In its highest ranks, Overcharge can activate instant reloading and increase its duration as enemies are eliminated.

Dynamic Events:

Arkfalls:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Wreckage from the Votan ships that exploded in space periodically falls to Earth. These meteor-like fragments usually contain rare and valuable alien technology.

Minor:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Occasionally clusters of arktech will fall to the ground, attracting small numbers of local denizens as well as nearby Ark Hunters. These small arkfalls can be tackled by a brave Ark Hunter or two.

Major:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Major arkfalls are impossible to ignore as they blacken the skies, turning the surroundings into a violent torrent of debris. As an Ark Hunters EGO sounds the alert, a massive section of arkfall impacts the land. Filled with arktech wonders and/or rare resources, these large arkfalls attract a horde of beasts, who are often in turn dwarfed by a massive guardian of the species, intent on claiming the arkfall for themselves. Only an army of powerful Ark Hunters can hope to stand against the monsters of a major arkfall and live to claim the glory and rare rewards found within.

Missions:

Main Missions:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Guided by the celebrity scientist Karl Von Bach, a team of Ark Hunters embark on an Earth Republic-funded expedition to find a mysterious alien relic rumored to have been lost in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, they are not the only ones searching, and their ship is soon brought down by mysterious forces.
Now the Ark Hunters must try to gather local information to find the artifact and thwart looming dangers that threaten all life in the Bay Area.

Side Missions:

Although hired by Von Bach to complete the expedition, the Ark Hunters continue to ply their services as superior salvagers and combatants. They soon find that a handful of important figures in the Bay Area will pay heavy scrip to help them fulfill local goals.

Challenges:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
While exploring the open world of the Bay Area, an Ark Hunter can test his or her skills in countless challenges placed throughout. Here you can earn medals and even a spot on the global leaderboards.

Multiplayer:

Contracts:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The Bay Area is home to a few influential business owners that rely on the services of Ark Hunters to remain prosperous. These Bay Area magnates issue periodic contracts. The more contracts an Ark Hunter satisfies, the more reputation they gain with the business owner, earning rewards including weapons and gear.

Competitive Multiplayer:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Ark Hunting is a competitive business, and what better way to monopolize the market than by taking down your competitors in brutal combat. Ark Hunters can go toe to toe with whatever arsenal theyve earned, competing in an array of maps and game types.
From team-based Shadow War to all-out Deathmatches, there is plenty of fragging to do on the new frontier!

Shadow War:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Ark Hunters in the vicinity of certain arktech will receive mercenary contract invites to an ongoing Shadow War. Those who choose to sign up become what are known as Shadow Operatives, soldiers working in the shadows of Echelon, a private military corporation. These Shadow Operatives quickly fill the ranks of two teams. Teams are then directed by Echelon to converge on the fallen arktech, where they must battle to claim the prize.
To the winners go the spoils: Echelon credits to be used on special gear, weapons, and armor, as well as a ranking on the Echelon mercenary leaderboards.

Weapons:

You can pick from 4 different classes, shotgun, assault, sniper, and light machine. All classes use different type of weapons, that includes...

*Spread Rocket Launchers

*Submachine Guns

*Semi-Auto Sniper Rifles

*Sawed-Off Shotguns

*Pistols

*Combat Shotguns

*Light Machine Guns

*Charge Sniper Rifles

*Pump Shotguns

*Infectors

*Guided Rocket Launchers

*Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles

*Bio-Magnetic Gun

*Assault Rifles

Weapon Descriptions:

Spread Rocket Launchers - Spread rocket launchers rain death over a large area. Firing low-payload rockets across a regular interval, these weapons allow an Ark Hunter to deal devastating damage over a massive area.

Submachine Guns - With fast fire-rates and high hip-fire accuracy, submachine guns are designed for suppression fire and close-range combat.

Semi-Auto Sniper Rifles - Semi-automatic sniper rifles allow for multiple shots without re-targeting. These rifles are the preferred weapon of Ark Hunters who prefer long-range engagements without sacrificing the ability to rapidly adjust to changing circumstances.

Sawed-off Shotguns - Sawed-off shotguns sacrifice range and magazine size for lethality. They specialize in extremely close-range combat against single opponents.

Pistols - Modern pistols act as precision-based weapons intended for close-range engagements. Offering flexibility by functioning well when fired from the hip or while aimed, these are powerful hand-cannons, designed to take down single targets quickly.

Combat Shotguns - Compared to other shotguns, combat shotguns have a high rate of fire and larger magazines. This makes them perfect for handling multiple enemies at close range.

Light Machine Guns - With low recoil and large clip sizes, light machine guns are the weapon of choice for Ark Hunters who prefer volume over accuracy. These weapons excel in medium-range combat against multiple opponents.

Charge Sniper Rifles - Charge rifles are a Votan invention designed to reward patience and accuracy with deadly results. While still effective when fired prematurely, these weapons charge their shots up to maximum power in a few seconds.

Pump Shotguns - Pump shotguns employ a low fire-rate but large damage capacity lending them to deliberate combat rhythms and strategic close-range encounters.

Infectors - Infectors are effective at medium-range against mobile targets utilizing cover or elevated positions. Infectors are also useful when fighting multiple targets, as infector bugs can cause opponents to divide their fire.

Guided Rocket Launchers - Guided rocket launchers lock onto a single opponent and allow for rapid-fire deployment of multiple rockets. They are perfect against single, tough opponents who are using cover.

Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles - Bolt-action sniper rifles are extreme-range weapons that require precision targeting. While they are slow-firing, they pack a significant punch when impacting critical areas.

Bio-Magnetic Gun - The Bio-Magnetic Gun, or BMG, is a highly advanced weapon of Votan origin. Based on the super-science of bionetics, the BMG is designed to tap into the Hunter's body, using a bionetic collider to integrate a portion of their BDNA (Bionetic DNA) into a powerful electrical field. When the electrical field is discharged, it latches onto other living beings and begins to siphon off electrical forces before redirecting them to the BMG, and ultimately, to the user. Once harvested, the sapped energy can be deployed to boost dwindling EGO powers or gain other extraordinary benefits.

Assault Rifles - Combining precision targeting and rapid fire, assault rifles are the standard choice for Ark Hunters in medium-to-long-range combat. While rarely the best weapons for any single engagement, these versatile rifles are effective in almost any situation.

Eren Niden:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Eren Niden is not your average frontier doctor. She is an Indogene bio-technician specializing in xenobiology and nano-augmentation. As brilliant as she is, she has only recently left the Votanis Collective and has poor command of the English language. This, combined with her focus on research rather than medicine, has led her to have a rather strained relationship with her patients in Paradise. Her only strong connection is with her companion, Rosa Rodriguez, with whom she lives at Top-Notch Toolworks.

Jon Cooper:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Lawkeeper Jon Cooper is a man who has seen the horrors of war and the evils of prejudice. He stands as a pillar in the community supporting peaceful human-Votan coexistence. Years ago, he came to the ruins of San Francisco with the Iron Demons, the Earth Military Coalitions 9th Mechanized Division, to wipe out a Votan army during the Pale Wars. Fate had other plans. Jon Cooper stood alongside Votans and humans at the Battle of Defiance to put a stop to the hate-fueled bloodshed. Enemies:

The Mutants:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The Mutants are a new threat that have risen from the ashes of war-ravaged ruins and abandoned military bases. These near-mindless and mutated monstrosities were once human soldiers, scientists, and powerful Bio-Marines of the Earth Military Coalition, mankinds defunct global guard against extraterrestrial invaders.

Hellbugs:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Voracious, chitinous creatures that spawn from hives deep below the Earths surface, Scylla Formicida or hellbugs as theyve been labeled by human and Votan alike were created from the terraforming processes that ravaged Earth. They are neither truly Votan nor terrestrial in origin, bearing characteristics from a variety of species across multiple planets.

Raiders:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The Raiders are a large interspecies horde of lawless scavengers and cannibals that terrorize the outlands of the post-arkfall world. They prey upon frontier towns, pillaging them of their resources and killing or enslaving the helpless residents. Usually nomadic, a large number have invaded the Bay Area, seizing land in Madera and Sausalito.

Ninety-Niners:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Once human, the members of the Muir Union Mining company are now crazed cyborgs. In their quest for ever greater productivity and vast quantities of raw gulanite and other minerals, they have sacrificed their humanity, now more machine than man. Cybernetic limbs and organs provide them with super-human strength and power.

Scrappers:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
The scrappers are hostile robots constructed from scrap metal and salvaged technology. Containing partial sentience, these piecemeal machines exist around old Earth ruins such as those found in San Francisco. Usually performing rudimentary salvaging tasks, scrappers have recently displayed hints of a higher level of artificial intelligence directing their actions.
