Okay so I recently decided to replace the thermal paste on my console. I have done it before on plenty of PC cpu's and another xbox (older model). So I get all of the old stuff off, put a dab (pea size) of Arctic Silver 5 on there, and put everything back together. Now all I get is the red dot. I didn't have any problems with the console before doing this. The only reason I decided to do this is because I know I've had it for 2 years already, so why not? It should be good, right? If anyone can help, that would be MUCH appreciated!

The only thing i can think of is to push your hard drive all the way in. Sometimes when its not in all the way it gives you a red dot.

Slims experience hardware failures just like the phat's, it's possible your console has a broken/bridged solder joint under the GCPU. My friend had a similar error happen under similar circumstances, and that was the only thing that could've been the problem in his case.
