i wanted to change the led's in the roccat isku from blue to green. i know that you can take the old ones out and solder in some new ones but wouldn't it be easier to individually colour in each key yellow (yellow filter plus blue led = green light) and get the same effect?

Well if no one has a specific answer you'll have to try it. Why not colour a key in you don't use as often, if it works you have your answer if not buy a pack of LED's. I bought 1000 5mm blue ones for my rig for 3GBP.

Colors of light don't mix like paint and the result of coloring or putting cellophane, saran wrap, or colored tape over the LEDs would be yellowish white or bluish white. The effect would likely be inconsistent as well. In your position, I'd sell the Iksu, which is just an absurdly overpriced mediocre rubber-dome board, and buy a mechanical keyboard with green LEDs. There are plenty of them out there.
