Cool Fact #1: They're have been over 150 different official gaming controllers released since 1972.

Cool Fact #2: I have a chart that shows them.

Hey guys! As I just said, I've found a chart from Pop Chart Lab that shows the entire evolution of different controllers and/or handheld systems! The text is kind of hard to see but I'm searching around the interwebs while I compile some actual text for you guys! In the mean time, please enjoy the chart! *EDIT* I've made up an actual text description. It's a little more general but it's still very good! Here you go:

1.1 The Keyboard

The keyboard. It's been around for generations and the earliest games were sort of like server systems at defence buildings and universities. They were controlled by keyboards and games were made from these basis'.

1.2 The Pong Paddle

Pong was essentially the first console for in-home gamers. We all know what Pong is and I'm sure we've all played it at one point or another. This particular 'controller', if you will, had 2 knobs which you moved left and right to move your paddle up and down. It was very simple and was designed only for Pong.

1.3 The Atarri 2600 Joystick

This is the joystick that most people will usually invision when they think of a joystick controller. It was a big, black box with 1 red button and 1 ever-so-glorious red joystick. Not only was this completely new for in-home gamers, but it also previewed arcade style gaming in the home.

1.4 The Speedking

This has been referred to as a control stick in the palm of your hand. Early gamers were amazed at the fact that they no longer had to put their old joystick down on the table to play a game. This was and still is the most basic form of our controllers today. Without it, who knows where we'd be.

1.5 The Dualshock

This is where most of you will start to recognize the controllers. There were 2 types of dualshock initially released. The N64 and the Sony PS1. The dualshock first introduced the analog sticks. These came stock on the N64 controller but Sony later added the 2 on their controller side-by-side. Also, more buttons were put on the front of the controller and triggers were moved to the back of the controller.

There you go guys! A history of the gamers weapon of choice! I hope you enjoyed! Tell me what you think and give me some feedback. Thanks guys!
