So, i'm under the assumption that how good your connection is on xbox live, psn etc is due to how close together your router and console are, or whether they are wired together..
And on the other hand that download and upload speeds depend on how much bandwidth you have in your area?
Please let me know whether I am correct or incorrect, and state why, or why not!
Thankyou!

Distance between router and console only matters if you are connected to the internet via WiFi.
And yes download/upload speeds [mostly download] make your lag, game searching, map downloading, and all the good stuff much smoother if you have a good internet speed

If your router is closer to your Xbox only depends if you have a wireless connection. But if you were to use a wired connection via ethernet, then your connection would usually be ten times better.
