Get a better power supply, graphics card and a bigger hard drive and you will be good to go.Not sure about your processor but I know people who use the processor with hd 7970 and have no problems with battlefield 3 ect on ultra/high mix.

get a better gpu i would pick up one of the new gtx 770's and i would get a better psu like 650w

To run next gen games, definitely a new graphics card. Might be worth considering a Radeon HD7850 or GTX660. Depending on your PSU brand and model it might be advisable to get a new one, however its better not to guess on what'll you need. If you *did* go for a GTX770 you could get away with a decent 550w unit.

all you need is a graphics card your ram i 1333mhz which is fine you have a quad core which is fine, hdd doesnt matter only for installing the game. get a gtx 660ti or better

new processor i recommend either FX 4170(4 cores) or FX 8350(8 cores)

and probably a blue ray player because the xbox one and ps4 have blue ray and there probably will only blue ray games now

The only logical part of this post is the cpu and hdd space.

That being said, why on earth would you recommend a thousand dollar gpu?? There are many mid range gpu's that are perfectly capable of getting him the performance he needs for a fraction of the cost.

Also, as for the blue ray player, it is understandable to get one if he is going to be watching blue rays, but why for games? They wouldn't put pc games on blue ray discs. Most games that people have on their pc's are downloaded anyways.

OP I would recommend a better psu and a mid range gpu. What you get would be completely dependant upon what you'd want to spend.
