So i just got a new computer and when i plug it into the monitor it leaves like half a inch of black around the edge. Does anyone know how to fix please?

May Have To Do With Drivers For Your Graphics Card Try Updating Them.

You might also want to change the resolution on your computer to match that of the monitor.
You could also press, what you have on most monitors, the Auto Adjust button, which should remove the black lines around the monitor.
Other than that, go into windows update and install all updates plus optional ones to do with the monitor and the CPU/graphics card (depending on what you're using to output video).

Sounds like your under/overscan needs to be adjusted. An option should be in the software for whatever graphics card/chipset you have. It may be because of a similar setting on your display as well.

I had this same exact problem.
