Gateway nv52l23u and it restarts about every other day. When im done using it I will close the lid, then open it and hit power when I want to use it again. Sometimes the screen will come on but it will just be black, wait a minute and I will have to log in again. Then on the desktop it says the pc ran into problems and it had to restart.

So while your laptop is closed it encounters a problem resulting in it powering off?
If so maybe check what your laptop is set to do when lid is closed, To do so Follow this.
Start>Control Panel (Make sure it's set to "View by large icons")> Power options.
Should end up with this page: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Click the "Choose what closing the lid does"
Once you're at this page you can pick what it does. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
If it's set to sleep, then it might be a problem with the sleep function, There could be many problems causing the shut-down.
