My personal opinion is that they will port it over at some point to the next gen consoles but it won't be any time soon. (I'm thinking earliest mid-2014)

Because of the apparent confusion as to what current-gen consoles are, Current-gen consoles are the PS3 and Xbox 360.
As for a PC port, there is rumor that one will come out but at a later time than the console editions.

Those who have been looking for a good reason to hold on to their current-gen console smight take interest in Take Two Interactives decicion regarding the future of Grand Theft Auto V on the next-generation consoles.
According to a recent interview with MCV, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, has stated that fans of the Grand Theft Auto series have been waiting on the latest installment of the blockbuster hit, Grand Theft Auto V for years, and he expects there to be enormous consumer demand, thanks to the excess of 120 install base of the current generation of consoles.
In addition, Zelnick has also stated that regardless of when the next-generation consoles are going to be released, he believes that the absence of Grand Theft Auto V from the next-generation consoles wont have any real impact on the sales of Grand Theft Auto V, which is set to also be featuring the largest, most dynamic, and diverse open-world that Rockstar Games has created thus far.
You can expect Grand Theft Auto V to release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.

I really hope you realise that it will be released on the next gen consoles...around the end of 2014

You know, I want to believe that it's only going to be for current generation consoles... I want to, but I just can't.
They've got to make it for next-generation consoles. I just can't see Take-Two/Rockstar NOT doing it...

The sales arent going to drop because of this but do think they will bring it out for new consoles maybe 6 months to a year after the release.

The game is going to be amazing current gen or next gen. Doesnt really matter

it wont be on nex gen it would be pointless and im glad its not because the new xbox is ovbiously better gtav wouldnt be able to maximize its potential...when they do release a gta for nex gen dont expect it to be good every gaming company is like that,take gta4 for instance it was the first one for the xbox 360 and they were working with all new hardware and didnt know what they were cabable of resulting in a crap game. glad to hear its only coming out for 360 it gives them time to make more games rather then trying to put gtav on nex gen

I went to Game today and they told me it WILL be on Xbox One, they just aren't allowed to switch them over yet as they haven't received permission.

I visited Walmart, BestBuy, and Gamestop within the last few hours, all of which I distinctly remember the pre-order cards for GTA V to only be for current gen consoles.
Rockstar/Take-Two doesn't need any permission at all to be allowed to develop their game. If you read the article at all, you would understand their reasons for this decision.
BTW, Your local Game employee must be pretty retarded to give out false or non-confirmable information like he (maybe she) does.
