Okay so I have been shopping for a small really easily traveling laptop but I came across the Microsoft Surface Pro which is labeled as a tablet. However taking a closer looks at the specs it easily has the power to run programming and even modeling in Blender I also noticed in the images of the device it has a desktop tile such as a normal computer running windows 8 would have. So now I'm wondering does anyone know if this device is completely free to use like a normal computer and any program can be downloaded and ran in the desktop like a normal laptop or does it have limitations such as only select few desktop programs would run?

Some links would be nice instead of trying to describe them with your poor conversation skills. And if it is indeed running W8 (which it is most likely not), why wouldn't you be able to run programs that you would run on any device using W8? A little thought goes a long way..

What are you talking about, of course the new Microsoft tablet will have windows 8; In fact they all run on variations of the windows 8 operating system. I don't see how these snide comments are relevant sometimes, it was a very valid question and if he had the sources he would of read through them anyway. He's considering this because apple tablets have lots of limitation for the user, though of course you were too busy running off on your tangent to realize that.

Anyway I'd have to say considering the tablet comes with a keyboard and pretty much functions as is like a laptop or desktop I would assume there wouldn't be too many limitations. Without reiteration it seems the surface pro is definitely a viable option:

So, yes you can programme with the tablet and it seems to be rather popular because of this.

Though don't take my word on it.

The Microsoft Surface Pro runs with Microsoft Windows 8 Pro, which can run all of your current desktop applications, which will include Visual Studio.

Here is a link to compare the Surface RT and Surface Pro

The RT version will not run Visual Studio as it only runs applications available from the Microsoft App Store.

Visual Studio 2012 Express will obviously run without any problems, and it should also run Visual Studio 2010 Express to.

Hope this helps you out.
