Hey guys. After reviewing the E3 premieres, as well as the reviews and things of that sort online, I'm ready to make my own review. There are all in my opinion. That being said, no hate to the definite fans.
Well, Microsoft definitely confused everyone with the name, traditionally being guessed the Xbox 720, or further, the Infinity. MS then named the console project Durango, then finally released the beast as the Xbox One. I like the idea of the One that Microsoft was trying to get at, it being the ONE technological breakthrough for all of your entertainment needs. At the same time, I think some Microsoft fans were disappointed to say the least, by the fact that the other names weren't being used. In my opinion, the concept design as well as the model of the Xbox Infinity was out to be the best, unfortunately, the company disagreed in saying it would have confused the people.
Now, other than name, there are the features. Let's start with the new completely wireless play, the Kinect 2.0. I will say, I was quite disappointed with the new Kinect, the name is too simple, as well as the design being too previous. I would have thought they would have made it more of a webcam typed design, smaller and more compact. On top of this, why would I want a machine watching and listening to every thing I say/do in my house? Not only is that creepy, but this is the start of how the new revolution starts. I don't want to be killed by a small piece of equipment. Other than that, I'm happy with the new settings, such as "XBOX ON" and the new voice controls. Though, the "XBOX OFF" could quickly become annoying.
Now, for the new Xbox controller, which could be the most important part. When I look at Microsoft, I see tradition. The same general console design, same general games, same general everything. Sometimes traditions get old; such as the controller. I was on Google searching for various concept designs for this new controller, and was psyched with what it would look like. Aside from a few color changes, there's no real change. However, I suppose Microsoft kept it old school, nonetheless.
Now for the console. This is quite possibly the most disappointing part of the whole project. First off, I'll quickly note the things that I like about the console. I do find some enjoyment in the fact that Microsoft quickly picked up SONY's leftovers in possessing Blu-Ray capability. Honestly, it's about time, Microsoft! Second, I like the new entertainment ideas. All of the old apps are making a comeback, as well as many other apps for watching television and listening to music. So overall, that should be good. Something I'm really looking forward to, XBOX and PlayStation alike, is NextGen gaming. Every gamer can agree that this will be great. No matter how big of a fan boy you are. E3's premiere of the games looked terrific! I especially can't wait to play The Crew, the game reminds me a lot of Fast and Furious, and the customization, as well as graphics, look spectacular. Something I'm highly disappointed in, however, is the fact that in purchasing a game, you're purchasing a one-time game license. Now, this isn't necessarily a problem for most people, considering the fact that when a new, nice game comes out, many of you go and pre-order the game. I have done that with a few games, though I mostly buy used. I'm 15, so I don't have loads of money for myself, but I also don't see the point in buying a $60 game just so I can play it for a couple months and let it sit on my shelf. The content licensing will require a $60 fee for buying a used game due to the need for your own license. I understand where they're coming from, though I don't think we all should be punished in this way, not all of us pirate Xbox games. Another thing is the concept for the Xbox Live support. I heard that unless you pay for XBL, your account freezes after 24 hours of game play. Perhaps this means 24 hours of XBL trial, or just playing time period. When I get busy during the school year, I hardly play Xbox. When I do want to play, it would suck for my account to be frozen.
Well, that's all for my review. Thanks for all that took the time to read, feel free to leave feedback!

While I agree with some points:
I disagree with:
-Infinity was NEVER a considered name, nor the 720. We gave it that name, now I personally like the name better either way, it's more defining then another bs name or infinity which is pretty generic in it's own way.
-Those designs you mentioned were all fan based, never an actual concept design.
-As long as the kinect functions as intended, the looks don't bother me. They've confirmed turning off any interactions while the console is off and you can unplug it.
-Controller has changed. They upgraded it. It looks similar but it has been thoroughly tested and enhanced where it needed to be. This is good enough for me.
-Mentioning Sony is ridiculous, bluray was out before PS3 was.
Bluray was unveiled in 2000 with an official player released early 2006. PS3 was late 2006.
Also, the Xbox 360 was released in 2005. So the technology it had was standard at that point, using bluray in the 360 would be pointless since it wouldn't be as compatible with other Xbox's.
-What everyone seems to be forgetting is the fact that the used games won't change much.
1) You can buy used games, you just purchase a license. How this will work, who knows.
2) You can still borrow games, it just changes.
3) You can buy and sell games through the console. So you can buy a used game on your console with a license instead of potentially buying both.
4) You can continue to play this game as long as you want, without a disc.
Sidenote: Just because your 15, it doesn't give you an excuse. When I was 15 I had a job, worked for neighbors on the side and was in honors classes.
-You heard wrong. Your Xbox just needs to be connected to the internet, not Xbox live. Paying to play offline is not necessary.
I hate that my Xbox would need to be always connected though.
Nice review, a little misinformed. Some points I don't really agree with, but it's your opinion.

Haha thank you.
In all seriousness though, the only thing that bothers me is the always needed internet connection. I'll probably wait until I have a steady job and know I won't be moving in the near future before I buy an Xbox.

I agree that Microsoft never officially stated that it would be called the Infinity or the 720, I think we can all agree that it was more or less expected to be one of these.
Most designs I saw were fan-based, though someone had mistakenly placed the name "Infinity" on the Xbox One console art. PhotoShop much?
I agree with this point, though why should I have to worry about plugging the Kinect in and out. On top of that, the Kinect was already fine. Just a couple of minor flaws, but good nonetheless.
I was just disappointed due to some of the designs for other controllers, mostly fan-based designs.
Calling Sony "ridiculous" because they released the Blu-Ray late is iffy. The fact that they were the first console to release Blu-Ray integration is why they have my vote.
I agree, although, the PlayStation 2 didn't have Blu-Ray, and it didn't seem to bother the compatibility with the PlayStation 3.
I know that you will have to purchase some sort of license, my guess was that it would be $60, I can't see them lowering the price so that their games can be recycled.
Thanks for the side note, but I mistakenly stated some falsities. I have work I can do, I just don't have a steady job. Unfortunately, where I live, no one is willing to hire a 15 year old.
Thank you for the confirmation though, I was a little unsure on that. I agree that it is odd that you need to be connected. I'm sure this probably started due to the hackers and modders that would play offline to do their dirty work. I just know that it's going to be inevitable that Microsoft gets outdone by hackers once again.

I believe you are missing the point.
-Fan named hardware can hardly be taken as an official name. If you expected it to be named either, that's your fault, not theirs. 720 is too generic, it's technically to 360's which in itself is an issue.
Xbox is the first.
Xbox 360 is a "revolution". The name meant something more then just a degree.
The 720 would be pointless, two "revolutions"?
The infinity would be plain and boring. The only thing it has going is "Infinite possibilities", even then it just isn't appealing.
-Exactly. Fan based. Never expect anything from a fan based concept.
-The Kinect had some flaws and you CAN turn it off without unplugging it. If you are so paranoid, then unplug it. But if you are that point, you really need some help. The point of something new, isn't releasing a new case, it's INNOVATION. Leaving the Kinect similar would be pointless, thus a new one being released with more abilities.
-Once again, if you worry about fan based designs, you will always be disappointed. Why? Well most designs aren't taking everything into account. While being built, companies need to worry about stability, space and cooling as well as many other problems. Designs really shouldn't matter anyway, it's all about performance.
-I said mentioning Sony is ridiculous. You seemed to miss the point that the 360 was released before bluray was OFFICIALLY supported while the PS3 was released after. They had that option while Xbox didn't. It's like saying that Nintendo 64 games are horrible because they didn't integrate HDTV's even though High Definition wasn't available at the time.
-The point isn't cross console generations. You have a 360 that uses regular discs. If they upgraded to Bluray, new games would need to be made and not every console could support them, meaning users who purchased the console earlier would need a new console or game developers would have to fork out much more money to make two copies usable in different disc drives.
Bluray is a different format, which would cause complications.
-No. They mentioned if the games are new, it would be the price of a new game. So if it's an old game, it'll probably be less.
Finding work as a 15 year old isn't too hard, go out and knock on neighbors doors. Especially elderly neighbors. Go to fast food restaurants or local flea markets.
-Hackers generally have nothing to do with Xbox. Modders will have a harder time getting around the internet requirement, although they have a whole lifecycle of a console to figure it out.
