Hey, being a longtime overclocker myself i thought i'd chip in. Even though processors with overclocking ability is more expensive i don't believe it is eighty pounds more and it might be worth noting that you are paying for an unlocked CPU Multiplier (CPU Ratio on some boards).
Also you are right with advising that users would need a processor cooler, but i don't agree with how "its the same as revving a car harder". I say that because if the chip operated on or near its temp threshold then it would shorten the life, however a decent cooler will prevent any damage occurring. On the other hand though i agree that a bad overclock can shorten the life, as can bad fitting of a cooler.
