Personally I would stay with the platform you use now.(In your case the Xbox brand) If you decide to switch to the other platform just remember you will be starting on ground zero again, and you will have to get used to that system. (ex. Controller, Interface, feel ect.)

PS3 is better, 100$ cheaper, don't pay alot for gold, get netflix without paying extra, etc..

The PlayStation+ fee is the exact same as Xbox Gold. And personally I think the games that MS showed off looked way better.

I recomend going for the console your friends are gonna get as thats where your gonna get the most enjoyment from.

But I will say if you don't want the same stuff as your friends go for the PS4, the console overall is looking better and you are able to play ps1, ps2 and ps3 games on it along with it being region free, having some great exclusives [ dead rising 3 is the only one that seems to make the xbox look a bit better] and along with that you can trade/lend games and not have to have a camera monitoring you.

The more times people post about the consoles and what one they prefer, the more times people will argue over which is better. I think you should just wait until they are out, watch reviews etc. Just get whatever you are more comfortable with really, they are both good consoles with ups and downs.

i am also a long time 360 player, but i am moving on the the ps4 for a lot of reasons.
all to do with the new security sytems and rubish that microsoft have decided to install.
that just my opinion though
