People don't seem to understand what Microsoft is doing with the xbox one. They want to see an xbone in every living room, do you think they would make all of these restrictions for no reason? I think the best way to explain this would be with an analogy.
Alright, so there are two very popular movies that came out, or are coming out. They are "Olympus Has Fallen" and the other "Whitehouse Down". Both movies are trying to portray what it would be like if the white house was being taken over by terrorists. Although they both have the same goal, they go about it in different ways. The director of "Olympus Has Fallen" decided to have Morgan Freeman as an actor. He is very well known, and people love him. The director of "Whitehouse Down" wanted to top the other movie, so he took a risk with having Channing Tatum as an actor. They knew he was a newer actor, and had appealed very well to a certain audience, girls ages 16-30, so they would try to show him to a different type of audience, those who love action and warfare movies. Channing Tatum was a newer actor, so he was not as experienced as Morgan Freeman, so there were some restrictions as to what they could do. But Channing Tatum is younger and could also open up a lot of new doors for them. The director also saw that Morgan Freeman probably doesn't have that many more years left in him. But if they were to only have Channing Tatum, their movie might flop because not everyone has heard of him, so they also hired Jamie Foxx to play a smaller role.So in the long run, Channing Tatum would bring more attention to their movie because he would became more famous.
My point is, Microsoft is pushing towards digital downloads. They saw that the physical disk market is going to disappear. But instead of making a big jump they tried to still incorporate the used game market. This is why they have the restrictions , such as only trading in once and an internet check in every 24 hours. They need that to keep track of the licenses, not because they hate their consumers or want to spy on them. Sony had played it safe by staying with the physical disk market. I'm not saying that PS4 sucks and you should get an XBONE. I honestly don't care. I just hate that everyone is bashing on Microsoft. Cut them a break. They took a risk, but in the end I think they did the right thing . Its just a lot of people are afraid of the big change.
