I have been a competitive gamer for awhile. (League Play, GameBattles, Online Tourny"s). But my Internet has never really been good. It's always 1,2 and 3 bars but never 4. But the other day I found out that my bandwidth was like 750 something out of 1mg. So I upgraded my Internet to 3mg so I could have a better connection. But after the upgrade I had maybe my first two games at 4-3 bars and it was a little better. But then it dropped again, so we called our Internet provider and we ran over some test and stuff and they said that most likely we need a stronger router. But the thing is we have a 7 year old router I think and I started gaming when the router was about 2 years old. So Idk if I really do need a new router or if that's bs, or do I just need a new Internet provider.
If you can help me out and give me advice links to routers or anything helpful I will rep you!

Take your computer and have it running on the router and go to Spped Test and see what your connection speed is like, then plug your computer directly into the modem and do the same test and if your connection is worse when you are on the modem then it is the internet provider but it is worse on the router then you just need a new router. If that is the case, I would suggest that you get a Apple Airport Extreme, they are some of the best router out there in speed and range and they work quite well even if you don't have a Mac computer or Apple devices.
