i think i need a new card for my laptop for gaming. are cards for pcs the same for laptops or are they different to suit sizes

You can't upgrade your laptop...

It generally depends on what you want it for honestly, but you should probably spend a tad extra and get a 7870.

It's a viable option, but for gaming and overclocking AMD would be slightly superior, and any gimmicks such as PhysX wouldn't really run well on either card, it's down to personal preference really because both cards are a decent choice.
