Basicly I download C4D today and I've created some stuff on it but when I go to render it gives me a black background on the finished product. I've look at some youtube tutorials and followed a few different ones and did the steps but they all give me a black background. I notice on all of the ones I watched when they select the format type (.PNG) they have it called "Quicktime .png" does this make any difference or can someone tell me what I need to do to change it.
If you can make a little text by text tutorial as like I said im new to C4D that will be very good thanks!

Just change these two things in render settings
Format: PNG
Alpha Channel: Checked

Also a good way to get better lighting for better renders like this:

is to add ambient occlusion and global illumination under effects in render settings:
