Go to your router management page, login is normally the User left blank and the password is admin, goto applications and gaming, then go to port range foward, put 25565 as start and end, application name Minecraft,
protocall should be both, now the ip address you will go to command prompt on your computer and type
ipconfig /all, then you will look for ipv4 address, type the last digits of the ipv4 address where it says ip address on the portrange forward page where it says ip address (the page where you done the 25565 start end), after that make sure the enable box has a check, then click save changes, start you server, go punch trees in minecraft on your server, have fun.

To start off you need to check your external ip. To find this goto [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] external ip will be in HUGE numbers at the top.) Next make sure the port is open on your ip. Goto [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and type in 25565. If it says its closed. Please reply back.

Yes it says this:

Error: I could not see your service on [my IP here] on port (25565)
Reason: Connection timed out'

What do I need to do to sort this out?

Make sure you only forward port 25565 to one ip like 192.168.1.2 not 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3, set a static ip to your computer.

I only have one port forward

Inbound Port 25565-25565
Private IP 192.168.2.2
Private Port 25565-25565

The box is ticked with the name Minecraft but I have no idea what's wrong
