Would i get shin splints if i did or do i have to buy some running shoes?

I only do it when i'm to lazy to bring my free runs, but yea you should and get some comfortable ones too

No, I'm a track runner, I run cross country and the 1600 for Texas Tech university, you need actual running shoes for average type running... for serious running you need to get cross-fit shoes, free run shoes, or flex shoes, nike free run 5.0 are good shoes to start with, I use NIKE Zoom Victory Track Shoes for my running, though they intend I use under armour shoes yet I prefer nike

I used to run like 3 miles a day and trust unvers if you don't have some good running shoes your feet will kill

my track coach helped me with a problem like this recently,casual running on a track should be done in a trainer or a spike

you're also bound to get an ankle injury if you run with shoes like that
