Since the introduction of the internet becoming a Graphics Designer has become easy, but also hard.

Easy in the fact that you have more access to resources and knowledge bases.

Hard because everyone thinks they can do it.

If you have the time and patience you can become a great and successful designer and have it make money for you.
If you dont have time and patience, you will make money on youtube and clans.

Search the internet for the answers to your above questions.
Buy magazine, I subscribe to a few photoshop magazines and some industry ones you wont have heard of.

If you put in the time required it will work.

Hi, nowadays graphic design is a super easy field to get started in due to the abundance of free programs and tutorials online. Though it's not super easy to become an actual graphic designer, that takes a bit of talent and a whole lot of practice.

From my experience there are two sorts of communities when it comes to graphic design. First, the YouTube "community". As a whole the "designers" on YouTube do not get along very well. They are usually driven by the desire of getting a lot of subscribers and are willing to undercut each other in pricing and lie about their abilities. The youtube "GFX" community was started because of the demand for CoD backgrounds from the larger CoD channels. With this came a problem, there isn't a whole lot of design inspiration in CoD and the vast majority of the CoD community is blind to what good design looks like. And that's why there's the popular " [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ". (I don't think it actually has a name, it's most commonly on CoD channels though.)

Typically you won't get much critique from YouTube, in the 2 or so years where I was doing it I never received any aside from the usual "sick" comment.

Then there's the communities populated by actual designers, these are much better if you're looking to improve your skills as they're usually willing to properly critique your work and not just say it's "sick".

You can buy PS from Adobe, if you're a student then you can get it really cheaply, if not then the internet is a thing. If you're serious about design then my advice is don't bother with C4D unless you want to become a motion designer/ 3D modeler.

For good designers check out the design sub-reddit. There's a lot of inspiring work there and links to other great sites.

Anyway, I really recommend having a go at design, it's great.

At least on this site there is an abundance of average GFX designers but not that many people looking for average GFX the very few great GFX designers get all the requests so it is difficult as a beginner to work your way up.
Just go look at the Graphics discussion page and look at all the "GFX shops" that have 0 or 1 request there is probably 50 new ones per day
Im not saying don't try. Im saying you will have to do something to make your work stand out

Also about getting photoshop ect.
If you aren't looking to pay for it I would suggestg etting Gimp. It is free but is also not quite as user friendly

Good luck

I think getting into Graphics is actually fairly easy. I started graphics last September and started making speed arts on YouTube a couple of months later.
I have been getting great support from my Clients, other Graphics designers and my friends.

Also if you are looking for Photoshop or Cinema 4D, and not interested in paying, there are loads of people on YouTube that do videos on how to get them for free, but they are cracks and nor me or the people that make the videos are responsible on what you do as some of the cracks can give you viruses and make your PC crappy and not work properly but there are some cracks that work fine.

And I recommend you checking out: EvanEckard, CallMeRatedx, Concersion, Stratzeh, AcrezHD, TrooperFX as they are some of my favorite Graphics/Motion Graphics Designers
