I'm pretty new to anime, I've only watched one piece and full metal alchemist so far. I'm not a fan of the extremely gory. or creepy stuff. Any suggestions on what I should watch?

Give some of those a try. I highly recommend Clannad and the sequel Clannad After Story.

Make sure to watch the sequel afterwards. After Story is a true masterpiece in my eyes.
