In iTunes there is a way to check the backups you have but I can't remember exactly how to find it.
When you have iTunes open and you iPad plugged up, right click on the iPad, where it gives you the eject option, and scroll down and it should say restore from back up and that will let you view what back ups you have. You can also try going into preferences and there should be an option called manage your backups.
