I would not recommend a JTAG at all they are usually unreliable, get a RGH.
But if you only want a JTAG i would recommend from previous experience a 256mb jasper with 12v fan mod.

He's kind of right... Its not really the exploit that you need to worry about really though.. its the Xbox 360 motherboard type.. so take my mini chart into consideration..
Xenon: Mostly found JTAGed but can be exploited with RGH for its KV info.. (as it has VERY VERY SLOW boot times) also 'thee' MOST unreliable motherboard to be found... with a very hot 90mn CPU and GPU also with POOR cooling methods..
Zephyr: Found JTAGed and RGHed It can be exploited with both.. yet motherboard also has a hot 90nm CPU and GPU.. (although it does have a 2nd gen GPU heat sink, its still very hot and is nearly just as prone to RROD as a Xenon..
Opus: A VERY RARE console to be seen or JTAGed/RGHed nowadays.. This is in effect a Falcon motherboard expect it wasn't given a HDMI port for a better and cooler replacement of Xenon owners.. Its has a 90nm GPU /w 2nd gen heat sink but has a 65mn CPU with both 1st and 2nd gen CPU heat sinks (depending on its manufactured date)
Falcon: This however is a very common console nowadays (just like the Jasper and Slims)..
The falcon has basically the same internals as an Opus except it has an HDMI output.. This console is also commonly seen JTAGed/RGHed..
Jasper: This console is much cooler.. with a 65mn CPU and GPU, it hardly ever suffers from the RROD.. It has HDMI as standard and has a 2nd gen CPU heat sink with a 1st OR 2nd gen GPU heat sink (as it was a lot cooler than the other motherboards it never needed the copper arm on the GPU heat sink to keep it cool.. So on the later motherboards they only had 1st gen GPU heat sinks).. The console is hardly ever found JTAGed though due to a patch in 2009 of the JTAG exploit so nowadays RGHs are much more commonly found..
(Also to keep you really up to date a new exploits been released called the R-JTAG as RGH2 was a slow and terrible exploit for this console TX released a new form of exploit combining the RGH with the JTAG to improve stability and boot times)..
The Slims: Both the Trinity and Corona motherboards are excellent for cooling and have a VERY cool 45mn CPU and GPU with a fan directly over the top of the single heat sink..
These motherboards are only found RGH2ed (The RGH2 glitching system is MUCH MUCH quicker and stable than it is on Phat consoles as it has be designed and improved around the slim)
The Xbox 360 E: Not much is known about this console just yet but follow TX's website and there's a news feed on there.. :-)
LOL!!. I hoped you enjoyed my little Xbox 360 motherboard lesson 101 thing.. :-D but feel to ask me questions and browser other forms.. :-)
