So, my friend has bought a Sager custom laptop recently, but the graphic card is pretty bad. I would not expect a laptop under $1000 to have a very nice one, but he wants to know if he can change out the card for a new one, how much work it will be, if he should hire someone to do it for him, and what GPU would be compatible with this laptop? The laptop is a Sager model number NP2240 and currently has this as a Graphics card: Intel GMA HD Integrated Graphics with Share Memory Architecture up to 1.7GB. Any and all help would be great.

The integrated graphics are built into the processor. You might be able to fit a small GPU in it, but since its a laptop, probley not.

You won't be able to upgrade that model. You could boost gaming performance a little bit by upgrading to some faster memory, but you can't make this laptop something it's just not going to be. Since the IGP (Integrated graphics processor) uses system memory, it's performance should scale with memory performance. You're limited in that regard because a fast SO-DIMM will be expensive and likely not much faster than what's already installed.
