The V-Moda LP2 is very bassy and it's built extremely well so that's my recommendation. It's good for portable use as well because it has a removable cable, case, and cable remote thingy. The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II is another option I'd consider. It's on-ear, nearly indestructible with easily replaceable parts, and good for the genres you listed. There's also the V-Moda M80, Aiaiai TMA-1, and Audio Technica Pro 700 Mk2 ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] that I would consider. If you want an IEM, I'd ask Ishcabible because I'm out of the loop for those at this point.

Nope. The first one developed a channel imbalance... And it is not actually. I happen to be trading my Fostex T50RP for this. You're going to love it.

I personally like the Yamaha HS50M. There's also the KRK Rokits that some people seem to like.

It was just a terrible mush of bass, well the wasn't really any. However, after fiddling around with the wire and hitting them they seem to be better, however there is still a rattle in the left ear; something I've had a while now when there's bass.

With every pair of headphones I've owned there has been a faint rattle in the left ear. Why is this? It's not my ears because when I flip the headphones round the other way I can hear it in the right ear.

Sounds like a cable problem. Isolate the problem first, does it happen on another device as well or just your computer? COPs do have a replaceable cable though IIRC. Also try not to turn things on or off with your headphones attached. Bad idea especially with the poor amps in most things.

The rattling occurs with every device I have used, however this is the first time I've had really bad distortion. I also always unplug my headphones after use from the computer and then plug them in when I want to use them because I have a pair of speakers I use during the day. Headphones are for computing at night.

You could try seeing if there's a hair on the driver. Remove the pads and foam in front of the driver.
