So yeah, recently I haven't been able to record due to this problem with my HD PVR (The first, non-gaming edition) and I really don't know how to solve it. It's really getting to me.
If anyone could help, +Rep and appreciation will be provided.
Thanks.

It may be possible one of the cables has failed- try removing each cable one by one to see if they make a difference. If you remove a cable and it has no effect, you've either plugged it into the wrong output / input or the cable is faulty.
If you are using a VGA cable - it it also possible that the VGA cable is broken or the VGA plug itself.

If your HDMI cables are old, that could be the problem. That was my problem with my Roxio HD Pro, except it was green.
