When I here someone say that they are from a place like Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, or even Southern Virginia I assume they aren't s smart. Not because of who you but because of where you are.

I would never ridicule someone for it and I would certainly never mention how I subtly feel superior (TRUST ME, I KNOW I'M NOT). And I know there are many intelligent people from all over the world, including great acquaintances.

I understand (sort of) what you mean, as soon as people know I am British I get non-stop stereotypical comments. But that's life I suppose... Nothing much we can do about that.
