Well I don't have proof that the jtag is illegal but I do have proof that playing the games off your hard drive is. The proof is: It is obviously a pirated game (or games).

I don't see it as being illegal, I myself have an Jtag'd Xbox 360, I use it to start my way into learning new programming languages. A few months ago i wanted to buy a dev kit from Microsoft but saw the price was at least 1100$++, so this Jtag hack came along that was able to turn certain firmware Xbox 360's in dev kits, you don't know how happy I was to see this, now I can program and still play my games on the occasion.

It doesn't alter Microsoft's code so it can't be illegal, it has Microsoft's same code there but it just loads it differently (it doesn't load the security part, but it's still there).

Hope this helped you. I recommend starting off learning C++ or C#, it can get you a good job out there be a programmer with knowledge or start your way at becoming a graphics designer for a game industry.

It talks about modifying games. Like said previously, most tings a jtag can do is illegal, but owning one its self is not illegal.
