It might have overheated so I would let it cool down for a while.

I don't get the problem, Xboxs get RROD, it's nothing new. New Xbox or towel method (which actually works)

Alright step 1.

Does anything show on the screen, an error code maybe?
What color is the power brick light when this happens?

Find the secondary error code. (this tutorial is for phat consoles but is the same for slims)

Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the red lights are flashing.
Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will go back to the red flashing lights.

1 light = 1
2 lights = 2
3 lights = 3
4 lights = 0 <-- not 4, zero.

Post all that information on here.

As I said, that as for phat consoles.

It's the same thing for a slim just ignore the flashing part. The LED's will still change if you hold the sync button and hit eject.

All I can find on that is that it's something CPU, GPU or RAM related.

If it's under warranty the best bet is to send it to Microsoft. If not under warranty I would just take it apart, blow out any dust and what not and try it out without the case. If it's not fixed after that one of those components needs to be reflowed/reballed.
