I currently have 2gb of ram and I have a Intel Pentium E2140 and I get about 15-20 fps on tiny render distance. What should I upgrade If I want to get more fps/higher render distance. My Processor, my ram or both? and about how much fps would I get.

I'm not good with computers but I would upgrade to 4GB RAM. I'm not sure about the processors though.

Well I have a dual core processor and 2 threads(or whatever they are called)on each and it takes ddr2. Would that even be possible? And how much would it cost?
Also: My processor sucks as my friend only has one gb ram and gets more fps than me and plays on normal render distance.

RAM means **** all to be fair. what you want is a better graphics card as they boost your FPS i use a Dual Nvidia Geforce 680 and i get 100+FPS on far

The CPU is bad for one, and MC is a very poorly optimized game (Java). I can't recommend upgrading the PC, buying a new one would probably be better in the long run. However, if you insist on upgrading, 2GB is what I would recommend for minimum minecraft play, the CPU will hold you back. I also suspect that you're on Integrated graphics, so don't expect Decent FPS on anything more than normal settings. If you need help picking out a new PC if you choose to buy a new one instead, feel free to PM me
Best of luck,

Upgrade the CPU, Motherboard and RAM. DDR2 RAM is pretty old. Your processor is really bad. You'll need a new motherboard to get some DDR3 RAM. Any computer should have atleast 4GB of RAM gaming or not. Get a pentium g860 or something if you dont want to spend much on the CPU. Just make sure you get a motherboard with a 1155 socket. The g860 is a good CPU for the price as it's dual core with a respectable 3.0GHz clock speed. I can't recommend you a motherboard, any 1155 socket motherboard will most likely to the job. G860, new motherboard and 4GB of crucial ballistix ram or something like that and you'll be ready for some hardcore minecraft!

If anything you need a better graphics card. Try looking up some Nvidia cards.
