So, I find out that my grandfather was a Mason. Then I was told that I'm a grandfathered Free mason.
What does this mean? I don't know about anything like this at all. That's why I came here because over the year I've been here I've seen numerous Free Mason articles.

The Free Masons are one of the oldest fraternal organizations in the world, who have orders all over the world.
The term "Grandfathered" means that since you have a relative that was in the order you, by default, are subject to membership.

I'm going to move this to General Discussion before the conspiracy trolls come out of their holes and spam the hell out of this topic.
I hope this helped.

Thank you. That helps alot. The reason I'm asking this is because he gave me this medal, and I researched into it. He has long since passed away. I found out yes, he was some type of Masonic Knight. Whatever that is. But, anyhow. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

My advice would be to find the closest Masonic Temple to where you live and go there with the medal. I have family members who have been Masons and members of other fraternal organizations and have always found them to be friendly to people, especially to people who are trying to find information about their relatives that have passed on that were members.
