This isn't regarding the story, as that's already been revealed. Instead Ill cover my theory on why they called themselves the ghosts. If this too has already been revealed, disregard this message, as I'm not exactly current on news. There's obviously a connection between the ghosts, and the character ghost, or at least this is what the studio wants you to believe. I'm not going to go into too much detail about ghost, although he isn't exactly dead. Or at least that's what an IF studio developer said after the release of MW2. Now, this could mean any number of things, the most direct being that he is alive. But that's not how I'm going to interpret it. Him "not exactly" being dead could mean any number of things. He could be a vegetable state, for example. Although I doubt the studio would do that. Instead I'm going to interpret that as them meaning ghosts spirit is still alive. And no, I don't mean ghost is literally a ghost now, I'm referring to spirit as in his actions somehow earned him a high name in the military. Once you think about it this way, the ghosts group starts to make a little bit more since. Isn't it possible that they named themselves the Ghosts to honor the great soldier ghost? That's all I have for now, post your opinions on this and your own theories below. I'd love to see what everyone else thinks about this subject.

As another user pointed out in a different thread, the dogs name backs this up. While I don't personally believe ghost will make an appearance in the next COD, I don't think it was by chance that the dog was named Riley, which just so happens to be ghosts real last name.

Adding onto this entire post, another user pointed out something interesting. Even if ghost wasn't idolized as a military hero, its possible he has some sentimental value to the main characters. Perhaps he called themselves the ghost to honor one of their family members?

It very well could. But like every other COD fan, I'm attempting to prove that ghost lives on in some shape or form. I think it's too coincidental that they would mention that ghost wasn't exactly dead, finish off the modern warfare series, and then start a new one with the name Ghosts.

It is so obvious why they used the word Ghosts. It's a simple unoriginal word for soldiers that are "stealthy" and kill the enemy while not being seen. If Ghost is still alive after a point blank magnum shot and being set on fire... It proves how bad CoD has gotten haha.

Did I once claim he was alive? Anyhow, there's so many different ways the name could be taken. But Id be willing to bet you it has something to do with ghost. They're that out of ideas. :3

I want to see Ghost come back as the main villian. Who knows he could of been working with Shepard. I really want to believe this because this would bring something NEW to the floor and it would be the BEST campaign.

That would be interesting, I just don't see it happening though. As much as we'd love that, its too obvious for them to do that. x.x
